Ash Wednesday Service will be held on Wed, Feb 22 at 6:30p.m. Come for a time of worship, reflection and the placing of ashes on your forehead. This is the traditional start of Lent.
Ash Wednesday Meal. You are invited to a Wed Meal (BIG Meal) on Wed, Feb 22 from 5:45p.m. until 6:20p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.
"Go Bananas!" You are invited to give a love offering on Sunday, Feb 26, at both services in support of the Africa Mission Team. Galen Eberhart, Lydia Jansen and Ted Jansen will travel in July to the Kakakumba Center where Rev. Ken Vance and Rev John Enright serve. Your support is needed. Checks can be written out to First UMC, write "Africa Team," on the outside of your envelope.
It's time to order Marie's Ham Loaves!
Ordering deadline for ham loaves is March 13. 2-lb. loaves - $10, 1-lb. loaves - $5, and 2-lb. ground pork - $6.50. Order forms will be available in the Gathering Area and in Fellowship Hall. Or you may phone your order to Karen Atkinson at 925-1399, Karen Sibery at 925-5376 or Drea Parker at 927-1368. The Missions Committee uses the funds from ham loaf sales to support local, national and worldwide missions of the Methodist Church.
Upper Room, Alive Now, & Our Daily Bread Devotionals for March are in the racks outside the sanctuary. Lenten Devotionals "Renewed for Life" are also available on the tables in the gathering area. You can also still sign up for Lenten text devotionals - Sign up on your "Connections" form at church on Sunday or contact the office.
Easter Cantata Practice on Wednesdays starting 2/29 from 8:15 – 9:00 after regular choir practice at 7:30. Come join us!!!!!!
CHURCH CAMP TIME!
It's church camp time, and it promises to be a good summer! We are so excited to start getting families registered for this summer's season of camps and hope you will be a part of it! As we anticipate the joys and growth opportunities of the summer, we are broadening our horizons and offering online only registrations this year. Please know that we will work with each family to make this as positive an experience as possible.
Here is how to get your family registered this year:
1. Decide which camp you would like to attend.
• Brochures are available for help with selection and suggested dates are given as well.
2. Come to the church to register your family.
A full (yellow) sheet of instructions and information is available in the Gathering Area.
The FUMC Methodist Marchers want YOU to be on our Relay for Life team this year and help us as we're "Peace, Love & Hope – Groovin' for a Cure!" The relay will be May 19 & 20 at the DeKalb High School track. Pay your $10 registration fee and get a packet to start collecting donations for the American Cancer Society for much-needed research for more cures for cancer. COMMUNITY-WIDE MEN'S BREAKFASTS BEGIN FEBRUARY 24
The annual community-wide Men's Lenten Breakfast Series will begin Friday, February 24 here at First Church beginning at 6:30 a.m. Over 150 men and youth representing more than 30 Christian churches traditionally attend the series. The Series continues for seven weeks through Good Friday and features breakfast, music and a message from area clergy. Meatless dishes are available for those whose religious practices dictate.

Church Doctor Diagnostic Consultation at First UMC
Thanks to the congregation for your support of Dr. Kent Hunter, the Church Doctor, as he and his team help us to grow healthier. Congregational surveys have been taken, the staff also filled out some inventories, and information on our history is being compiled. The next step is having interviews scheduled. If you desire to be interviewed please contact the office. Thanks for your prayers and involvement. We look forward to April 29 to hear the report.
