Dinner for 8

Do you want some good food, friends and fellowship?  Then this is the group for you!

Dinner for 8 groups eight willing people together, and they will plan meals, games and other activities in their homes, or other establishments in order to get to know  one another better.  

Once groups are formed, the first host will be selected from the group roster.  They will contact members to arrange the details for the 1st gathering.  Dinner groups are encouraged to be creative; consider picking a theme, and everyone can bring a dish to share!

  • How does a Dinner for 8 group work?
    Simply fill out the attached registration form (or online) and return it to the church office.
    Once groups are formed, a Group Coordinator will be selected from the group roster.  They will contact members to arrange the details for the first gathering.
  • How are groups formed?
    Each group will have 8 adults comprised of either all couples, 2 couples and 4 singles, or one couple and 6 singles.  It all depends on who signs up.  The intent is to get to know new people, so we will mix everyone together.  The mystery is part of the fun!
  • Sounds good so far, but who cooks the meals?
    Everyone!  Potluck dinners are the best way to simplify meal planning and distribute the costs among everyone in the group.
  • How often does the group meet?
    Each group will meet once a month for 4 months.
  • Sounds like fun!   Can I sign up anytime?
    Yes, it’s an ongoing process!  Once 8 people sign up a  new group is born!
  • Being a Group Coordinator sounds scary! How are they selected and what do they do?
    Being a Coordinator is fun and easy (as long as you have a phone or email.) 
    You can sign up to be a coordinator on the form, or we may need to select one.  The Coordinator will contact group members to setup the first location, date and food for the gathering.  It is highly recommended to schedule all the future gatherings during your first night together.
  • I don’t have room to host a dinner or I really can’t cook.
    Our desire is for you to spend time eating together , getting to know each other and to include everyone.  Your group might choose to repeat a host or eat out.  If finding a host home is difficult, your group is welcome to schedule dinner at the church.  We request that you fill out a Building Use form.
  • We have kids.  What happens to them?
    The decision to include children will be determined by your group. 
    (Note:  At this time the church will not be providing any form of childcare for this ministry.)
  • What happens after the final dinner?
    Hopefully, you will have had a wonderful experience that you will continue meeting as a group for another season, or you can sign up for another round with another group.
